“"Hate the family and cannot afford it" is a common name for male erectile dysfunction. Medically known as impotence or erectile dysfunction, it refers to a man's continued inability to achieve or maintain an erection sufficient to complete a satisfactory sex life under sexual stimulation. Major causes include psychological stress, vasculopathy, nerve damage, hormonal imbalances and medication side effects.
1. Psychological factors:
Anxiety, depression, or partner tension can directly inhibit sexual arousal. Long-term work stress or sexual trauma may lead to excessive inhibition of the erectile reflex in the cerebral cortex, which needs to be alleviated through psychological counseling or partner communication.
2. Vascular disease:
Atherosclerosis or hypertension can reduce penile blood perfusion, and microvascular disease caused by diabetes is more likely to lead to organic impotence. In this type of situation, it is necessary to control the underlying disease and improve the endothelial function of blood vessels.
3. Nerve damage:
Lumbar disc herniation, prostate surgery, or diabetic peripheral neuropathy may disrupt the erectile conduction pathways. It manifests as decreased nocturnal erections, and neuroelectrophysiological examination is required to determine the location of the injury.
4. Hormone imbalance:
Low testosterone levels directly affect sexual desire and erection quality, and thyroid dysfunction or hyperprolactinemia can also interfere with sex hormone balance. Blood hormone testing can confirm the diagnosis, and replacement therapy can be given if necessary.
5. Drug effects:
Beta blockers, antidepressants and hormone drugs in antihypertensive drugs may interfere with the physiological process of erection. Reviewing your medication history and adjusting your medication regimen can improve symptoms.
It is recommended to increase arginine-rich foods such as deep-sea fish and nuts to promote vasodilation, and to perform Kegel exercises regularly to strengthen the pelvic floor muscles. Avoid overexertion and alcohol intake, and maintain moderate aerobic exercise to improve systemic blood circulation. Partners should provide full understanding and support and participate in the treatment process together. If symptoms persist for more than 3 months, you need to go to the men's department for professional evaluation such as nighttime erection monitoring and penile blood flow ultrasound.
