Genital warts in children are often caused by sexual abuse
Genital warts are sexually transmitted disease , adult diseases are mostly related to unclean sexual intercourse, and children's diseases are mostly related to transmission methods other than sexual contact. However, for older children suffering from genital warts, sexual abuse factors should be considered.
Some foreign scholars believe that although children do not have sexual intercourse, they may be infected with human papillomavirus (HPV) through sexual violence or abuse, and subsequently develop genital warts. We must be cautious when judging whether children develop genital warts due to sexual abuse. We must not only rule out other possible transmission routes, but also have conclusive evidence of sexual abuse, such as sleep disorders, fear, shrinkage, excessive obedience, and other abnormal behaviors such as obedient and cooperative postures. Relevant surveys and analyzes have found that the proportion of children with genital warts who experience sexual abuse is as high as 40% to 80%, and the age group is concentrated between 8 and 12 years old. There are more girls than boys, with a ratio of about 2:1. Warts mainly occur in the anus, urethral opening, labia and other parts.
There are also a few scholars who believe that genital warts in older children are caused by sexual promiscuity. We should also be cautious about this statement. Unless there is conclusive evidence that the child has sexual contact, other transmission routes should be considered. Relevant investigation and analysis found that about 30% of children with the disease have a history of sexual contact, mostly girls, and the sites of occurrence are concentrated in the perianal area, labia, etc.
