Skin burns caused by low-temperature candles are mainly related to excessive temperature of the wax liquid, excessive contact time, or skin sensitivity. Low-temperature candles are not completely immune to burns, and the wax temperature may still exceed the skin's tolerance threshold.
The wax temperature of low-temperature candles is usually 50-60 degrees Celsius. Although it is lower than that of ordinary candles, long-term contact or dripping on the same area may still cause redness, burning or even superficial burns on the skin. Sensitive areas such as the inner wrists and inner thighs with thin cuticles are more susceptible to damage. When some people have slow temperature perception or weak skin barrier function, low-temperature candles may also cause accidental burns. When using low-temperature candles containing beeswax or stearic acid, the actual dripping temperature may be higher than the labeled temperature due to the higher melting points of these substances.
In rare cases, low temperature candle burns may be related to product quality. Low-temperature candles that do not meet the standard may have a higher actual melting point due to formula problems, or the temperature control during the production process may not be strict. Some craft candles with added metal powders, pigments and other ingredients may cause the local temperature to rise abnormally when burning. When people with allergies come into contact with ingredients such as spices and dyes in candles, they may experience skin inflammation reactions similar to burns.
When using low-temperature candles, it is recommended to test the temperature of the wax liquid in advance and choose special sex candles produced by regular manufacturers to avoid dripping wax repeatedly on the same part. If persistent burning, blistering or pigmentation occurs on the skin, use should be stopped immediately, rinse with cold water and then apply burn ointment. People with diabetes, skin diseases, and those taking photosensitizing medications should use low-temperature candles with caution. If the burn area exceeds the size of a coin or there are signs of infection, seek medical treatment promptly.
