Low-temperature candles are generally not recommended to be dropped on the face as they may cause skin burns or allergic reactions. Facial skin is thin and sensitive. Although the temperature of low-temperature candles is lower, there are still risks. Special needs should be operated under the guidance of professionals.
Low-temperature candles usually refer to special candles designed for fun or physical therapy. The melting point is about 50-60 degrees Celsius, which is lower than ordinary candles. During the wax dripping process, when the wax oil contacts the skin, it will quickly solidify to form a heat insulation layer, which can theoretically reduce the probability of burns. However, the facial area is rich in nerve endings and capillaries, and the subcutaneous fat layer in parts such as the cheekbones and around the eyes is thin. Prolonged exposure may cause local redness, swelling, and pigmentation. Some people are allergic to paraffin or fragrance ingredients and may experience symptoms of contact dermatitis such as itching and rash.
A small number of professionally trained personnel will use facial wax dripping in specific scenarios. For example, some SPA treatments use medical-grade beeswax with strict temperature control equipment. This type of operation requires skin testing in advance, avoiding mucous membrane areas such as eyelids and lips, and the single contact time should be controlled within 3 seconds. Imitation by non-professionals may cause wax oil to accidentally enter the eyes or nasal cavity, causing more serious chemical burns.
If an accident involving wax dripping occurs on the face, rinse immediately with cold water to cool down, and do not forcibly remove the solidified wax block. If blisters or persistent pain occurs, seek medical attention and avoid using irritating disinfectants such as alcohol. For daily care, it is recommended to choose a regular brand of body-specific low-temperature candle, read the ingredient description and do a skin test on the inner arm before use, keep the environment ventilated and keep away from flammable items. People with sensitive skin can choose unscented plant-based products and control the drop height to above 15 cm to reduce impact.
